You are invited to participate in the Energy 21C conference in Melbourne from 6-9 September 2009.

Energy 21C is the pre-eminent energy conference and exhibition in the southern hemisphere.

This will be its 18th year and it will be held for the first time in the brand new and magnificent Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event is run by the Australian energy supply industry every two years and has always attracted a large number of industry people, including experts and eminent speakers from around the world. This year will be no exception and it will provide an invaluable opportunity at a time of unprecedented change, to interact with world leaders on the important issues facing the industry today and tomorrow.

The primary aim of the conference is to provide upto-date professional development for those working in the industry, as well as for those associated with it. Never before has there been such a range of issues that must be addressed and managed.

Climate change, customer requirements and response, network operation and asset management which involves reliability, power quality, safety and future developments all need consideration. Coupled with these issues is the extreme rate of technological change and the opportunities this presents. Energy 21C provides a rare opportunity to be exposed to future challenges and to learn from world experts on how to address them. There will be demonstrations by exhibitors and ample opportunity for close liaison between other delegates and suppliers of the latest equipment and technology. Gas distribution, which forms an important part of the energy system, will play a key role both in the conference and in the exhibition.

The conference joint owners are The Australian Industry Group and the Energy Networks Association (ENA). We are very pleased this year to welcome our Melbourne hosts, SP AusNet, CitiPower and Powercor Australia, Jemena, Multinet, and United Energy. In addition to their many other hosting functions they will be organising a number of field trips to augment the topics covered.

Energy 21C is an opportunity which only occurs every second year and is a vital source of information for managing the challenging times ahead. We look forward to welcoming all participants and to assisting in the interaction which is essential in a world where technological and regulatory changes are both rapid and continuous.
